Oil well sand control screen pipe
Oil well sand control filter pipes are metal pipes with precision-machined slits on the oil casing/tubing body using processes such as laser and plasma. They belong to a type of mechanical sand control equipment.
Structural Features:
Seam Integrated: The seam is directly machined onto the base pipe (mostly made of high-strength oil casing steel such as N80/J55), eliminating the need for an additional screen sleeve, resulting in high strength and resistance to detachment;
Seam Design: The seam width is typically 0.15~4mm (accuracy ±0.03mm), and the seam shape includes rectangular and trapezoidal (T-type self-cleaning seams).
Core Functions: Sand Control + Flow Guidance
Sand Control: Through the precise width of the slots, it blocks sand particles (especially medium and coarse sand from loose sandstone formations) from entering the wellbore, preventing sand particles from abrading oil production equipment, clogging the wellbore, and extending the life of the oil well;
Flow Guidance: While blocking sand particles, it allows oil, gas, and water to enter the pipe through the slots, ensuring the flow of production fluids (the flow area is more than 2.4 times larger than that of oil pipes of the same specifications).
Applicable Scenarios Primarily used for completion operations in oil and gas wells and water wells.
Common scenarios include:
Conventional well types: Casing completion/open-hole completion of vertical and deviated wells;
Complex well types: Horizontal wells, sidetracked wells, radial branch wells (due to the high strength of the casing, it can adapt to wellbore curvature);
Special processes: Open-hole gravel packing completion (using gravel to further enhance sand control); Casing gravel packing completion;
Applicable formations: Loose sandstone, medium-coarse sand formations (sand particle size > 0.3mm), and oil and gas wells and water wells with moderate production requirements.
Advantages:
High strength: Allows for appropriate bending, adapts to complex well conditions, and has a compressive strength of 45%~90% of the casing;
Low cost: Simple construction (directly run into the well), no need for additional screen sleeves, and lower operating costs than wire-wound screen pipes;
Durability: Can be entirely treated with anti-corrosion coating, resistant to acids and alkalis, and high temperatures (350℃), with some products having a lifespan of over 10 years.
Application Cases
Horizontal wells in Shengli Oilfield and Zhongyuan Oilfield: Well completion using slotted screens with a slot width of 0.25mm increased single-well productivity by over 30%;
Kenkiyak Oilfield: Using slotted liners with a slot width of 3mm, no well collapse or blockage has occurred to date;
Water source wells: Used for filtering sand and gravel during groundwater extraction to prevent pump wear.
